Parents
The role of the parent in the scouts is one of support and overseeing.
It is important for parents to realise the importance of each section
and to encourage and guide their sons and daughters to do their
best.
Hopefully, during your child's time with us, there will be several
trips. Visits and outings are generally themed for group activities
or at times for badge work, although some are just fun and parents
may be asked to assist with transport from time to time.
Ask any member of the 8th Louth Slieve Foy Group, what they like
best and most of them will reply camping or the varied range of
group activities. The majority of youngsters love the outdoors and
the tasks that are created for them to follow, the outdoor camps
and visits to different destinations are very special - certainly
very different from the normal school trip.
Your child may go away overnight, for the weekend or even for a
few days. Each section within the Scouts may go away with their
own Group or they may have a chance to join in a much larger camp
mixing with other Scout Groups throughout Ireland, giving them the
unique opportunity to learn from others.
Your assistance is always appreciated.
